*Quotes*
If it is possible I think that Ebony Janice sits on the shoulders of Jesus ease dropping on the things that have been whispered to him. She is a healer, an activist, young black girl with a drive to empower other young black girls. There is nothing more powerful than a women who believes. Believes to the point that non believers and believers alike will sometimes perceive her as crazy. She is crazy with praise, filled with passion and faith. It is well with ebonyjanice even when it isn’t, it still is. She understands the spirit and communicates with the ancestors with no apologies. I am thankful that God found it necessary to send ebony to me. With her radical praising and her down to earth black girl lingo she is a reminder that Jesus loves all the children... even us nappy headed lil black girls that the world tries to hide.
-Tamara Blue (HBO Def Poet)
Ebony Janice is both inspired and inspiration. Her work is not only a thing to be treasured, it is a place to be lifted and remembered and loved.
-Bassey Ikpi (5 time HBO Def Poet)
*BIO*
EbonyJanice Moore was born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio. She graduated in 2001 and attended the University of Cincinnati and then Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a Self proclaimed "Sista-Girl", artist, activist, community loving friend – currently enrolled at Spelman College in the Comparative Women's Studies department.
She loves having "nappy" hair and when she dances for the Lord she pretends to dance like she's a part of Alvin Aiely dance troupe... even though she can't. She loves Jesus and is clearly not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ as she will pray "in Jesus name" in a room full of atheists. She is bold. Even when she is silent. Writer, dramatic worshiper, and poet - EbonyJanice uses words to get peace. And when the words won't come the way she wants them to she is known to cry, dance, draw, sing, shout... anything to get it out! She is the mighty woman of God and believes that she is "the called." Did I mention she loves the Lord? Apparently he heard her cry and pitied every groan.
She is the author of a book of poems entitled: Young Black Girl (belle noire publishing) and founder of Belle Noire Ministries (a young women's ministry), monthly contributor to the monthly black interest news paper: The Advocate, and teacher of a curriculum she designed called - Black Girl Curriculum (which includes her 10 Things Every Black Girl Should Know list). EbonyJanice works full time as an editor and is pursuing her dreams of owning her own publishing company and a book store that specializes in rare black books. She is a radical and believes that she will co-pastor an awesome ministry with her husband one day soon. She's in love with a man. Clearly she feels that's noteworthy. Mostly she loves the God in him. II Kings 4:8-37 is her favorite story in the Bible. She is the Shunamite Woman.
Really. It is well.
